“Pearl Beach Proms”
Saturday September 11, 7pm for 7.30pm
Pearl Beach Memorial Hall
The Umina PCYC will benefit from proceeds of this concert. Originally the term Promenade Concert was associated with the series of concerts founded in 1895 by Robert Newman and conductor Henry Wood, but a festival known as the BBC Proms, originally referred to concerts in the pleasure gardens of London where the audience could stroll around while listening to the music
The term 'promendade concert' seems to have been first used in England in 1838. Christopher Bearman, Director of CC Conservatorium will lead the performers and engage the audience on a global musical journey.
Host for the evening will be Dr John Irvine who promises an exciting journey commencing in the home of the modern Proms Albert Hall, London, continuing through France, Holland, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Latvia and finally coming home to Australia.
This year there is an exciting addition with an item performed by members of the Pearl Beach Youth Theatre whose ages ranged from 5 to 15 years.
Tickets cost $15. Venue is The Pearl Beach Memorial Hall, 9 Diamond Road, Pearl Beach. Ring 4342 1306 for bookings.

Central Coast Symphony Orchestra
Sunday 19th September at 2.30pm is the date and time of the next symphony concert by our leading Central Coast Symphony Orchestra. The programme will feature Tchaikowsky's well-loved Symphony No 6, popularly called ?he Pathetique. This is a performance not to be missed.
Conductor Leopold Stokowsky once said Tchaikowsky's music comes directly from the heart and is as sincere as if it were written in blood. Nowhere is this more evident than in this Symphony which Leonard Bernstein described as having "gruelling tempos, massive climaxes, ardent phrasing and a profoundly dark finale that lingers"
In addition, audiences will enoy the virtuosity of two of the Coast's outstanding young talents when the Orchestra presents the finals of the Haines & Streather Young Instrumentalists Competition. Alyse Faith will perform Gluck's Flute Concerto and David Kimpton will take audiences to a new experience with a Timpani Concerto by Rosauro.
